Moldavite is a tektite that was formed when a meteorite hit the earth in the Czech Republic around 15 million years ago.
Because Moldavite has a hardness of 5.5 on the Mohs scale, it is considered to be relatively fragile and therefore, should never be cleansed with salt in order to avoid scratching its surface.
